Stroke after percutaneous coronary interventions.

چکیده
n this issue of the Journal, Dukkipati et al. (1) identified the ncidence, predictors, and outcomes of stroke in patients ndergoing percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs). troke occurred in hospital in 92 of 20,670 patients (0.3%) fter PCI, which is higher than the reported rates of 0.08% o 0.17% after diagnostic catheterization (2). The good news in this report is that brain injury hapened (or at least was recognized) very infrequently after CI. The bad news is that when brain injury occurred, the utlook was dismal, not only for the patient’s brain but also ystemically. In-hospital death, renal failure, and the new eed for hemodialysis were more common in patients who ad cerebrovascular events than in those who did not.

Incidence and clinical impact of stroke complicating percutaneous coronary intervention: results of the Euro heart survey percutaneous coronary interventions registry.
BACKGROUND Stroke is a rare but serious complication of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs). So far, scant information is available about the incidence and outcome of patients developing stroke after PCI for stable angina or acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in daily clinical practice in Europe today. METHODS AND RESULTS Between 2005 and 2008, 46888 patients undergoing PCI were enrolled in...

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of calcitriol on Ischemia-reperfusion Injury (IRI) and inflammatory biomarkers in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndromes (NSTEACS) undergoing elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Methods: A total of 72 patients with NSTEACS were randomly divided into two groups: (1) the calcitriol-treated grou...

The epidemiology of stroke in patients undergoing cardiac intervention has been previously documented [1]. The reported incidence of stroke after cardiac surgery varies depending on the procedure and whether the findings have been obtained prospectively or retrospectively. The stroke incidence with coronary artery bypass grafting has been reported from 1.5% to 5.2% in prospective studies as com...
